Unprofessional, poorly managed, terrible communicators, antiquated filing system, and seemingly sexist. Paid like 130$ to have my boots ruined and my time wasted.

Went in for the first time October 3rd (3 months ago) with my mom who passed down a beautiful pair of boots to me that had ripples in the soles. Upon going in, the two men working were friendly and told us the boots were gonna be an easy fix. We paid, they said they would text when they are ready which would be in a week. About two or three weeks later my mom (who had already gotten different boots fixed by them) said they never text and I just need to go in. I do, and after trying to figure out where my boots are for like 5 minutes, they say they are done. They look great but upon putting them on it felt like no work was done at all. They felt the inside and agreed that what they did didn't work and they will try again. Cool with me, I just want the boots fixed. They say they will text when they are ready and say they cannot give me a time frame.

After a month and change goes by with no text I go back to check in. I walk in before a guy who they decide to help first, and they say his boots will be done tomorrow. After I remind them which boots are mine (god forbid you lose the single piece of paper they associate with your boots that you need to bring back) they go on to complain to me about how busy they are, how much more work my boots are than they originally expected, and how if I saw how much work they have I'd "understand why [my] boots are on the back-burner". They referenced that the man that just came in asked for his boots by tomorrow and that's just another thing they had to do before my boots. They said they would have to put more of their own money into my boots than they expected, and after I uncomfortably said I would pay more if necessary, they said no. At this point I felt like I should've just taken my boots back, but they went ahead and ripped out the sole so if I took back the boots now they would be unwearable.

I said that it's fine, I understand you're busy, I just need to know how long you need. They said they could not give me a time frame at all, and that they would work on them through the week and to come back after that. I said okay.

The following week I went in (today, December 4th), they asked what I needed and after they figured out which boots were mine, the guy brought them up and said no work has been done on them since I last came in! Took my boots back which are now unwearable and got out of there. No refund offered, whatever, just glad to have my boots back. Praying that the damage they did can be fixed.

Be careful to ensure they Do Not use "spray on polish" or whatever they used which peeled off a few days later and left deep stains in shoes less than 6 mos old.
They are friendly and engaging.
Attendants at this shop applied something on a new pair of Johnston and Murphy shoes to really shine them for a wedding...
the application made a crackled appearance on the shoes.
These are getting polished off by hand in a very slow and labored process.

Great folks! Excellent work! Quick turnaround times! I had them sew a couple of patches onto a motorcycle sling bag. Even though it was challenging with some tight maneuvering, it came out excellent. A lot of people have forgotten about shops like these but they can breathe new life into your luggage or boots you like and want to keep! Now that I’ve found them, I’ll be revisiting them.

I am very happy with the work The Boot Shop did on my boots! I took my boots in last week that have been passed from my grandmother to my mother and now to me, and they needed the soles and heels redone. The gentleman I talked to was very good at explaining my options to me and took very good care to fix my boots up very well. The men that work here are very respectable and take great care of the customers. The quality of work they did on my boots is amazing - the soles are now a million times better and the leather looks fresh and beautiful - no longer dull and scuffed. My boots were fixed very quickly, especially for being right before Christmas, which I really appreciated. I'm so happy that my grandma's boots are back to looking as good as they do now. Overall, I highly recommend The Boot Shop - great work, great people. Thanks you guys!
