Our boat didn’t go above about 3mph, it kept dying and was malfunctioning for the entire sailing.

We have an experienced lifelong Boston whaler guy on board as our captain so we know it wasn’t user error. Every time we tried to accelerate we’d completely lose power. I’d imagine for someone less familiar with boats that would be terrifying! I’m very disappointed in the quality of the boat for the price of the rental. We were barely able to do a turn in Naples before our hour was up, and the boat kept dying on the way back. We were literally passed by other duffies, a GONDOLA, and even a paddle boarder. The music kept stopping, full power loss. Our Duffy was covered in mold, the cup holders kept coming out, and the windows didn’t work and kept flailing around and some had lost their zippers so we couldn’t even secure it. I won’t be booking London Boat Rentals again.

What a wonderful place to get away from it all, and cool off from the intense summer heat. Felt like being on vacation, and a good way to bond with family. Like other guests have said . . . The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and present. That alone is unusual these days. 5 stars!!

My first experience was a Saturday Evening, and they were very far behind and we ended up having to wait an additional 1.5 hours for our reservation, making our sunset cruise turn into a dark cruise. What made it even better was our boat ran out of energy and we were actually left in darkness.

Fast forward to a couple weeks later when I returned to celebrate my mother’s birthday for a two hour reservation. About 45 minutes in, our boat’s engine died, leaving us drifting around in the wake of other nearby boats. It was a Sunday afternoon with lots of boats out, so it was very scary drifting around. About 20 minutes later our boat died for good while we were in the canals. This was a very scary experience as we had no control over the boat as it drifted around kayakers, paddle boarders and other boats. We were so close to hitting another larger boat. If we would have hit a boat we would have had to pay for damages. When we finally got rescued and towed back, the owner refused to speak to us. No refund or partial refund was given. I exchanged some emails with the owner as well but she refused and only gave me future credit to go again. As I expressed to the owner, I am quite scared to go again as I am not convinced these boats are safe after having two separate experiences with the engines dying.

Honestly, if I would have received a partial refund I would not be leaving this review. But I paid almost $300, and only got a partial experience. This does not seem fair or a good business practice by any means. And based on the other comments, it looks like boats breaking down does happen quite frequently with this company. No wonder the locals of Naples hate these Duffy boat rentals. I would not recommend this company.

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon we took a rental boat out for one hour. Our party included 2 five year old children. The boat really never worked properly but it took us awhile to realize just how damaged it was. We initially thought it might just have a lag time but in short order we realized that the transmission was faulty. The boat rarely moved forward and even then, it was difficult to steer. We could put it in reverse however the steering was still not reliable and we were often floating about threatening others out on SUPs and kayaks. We ran into some boats in their slips. The boat owners were super kind and let us tie up to their crafts while we attempted to get the company to rescue us. Their emergency number DID NOT WORK!! When I contacted the child who was manning the front desk, they were insisting on a boat number (which was very difficult to locate)in addition to our exact location which I was able to provide. Their rescue boat(!!!) could not retrieve us because initially they were unable to locate the key for it. After driving to someone’s house to get the rescue boat key, they reported that the battery was dead. Two children came in another Duffy rental boat to tie us up and return us to the dock, 1.5 hours later. We were then told by the child at the desk that no refunds were ever given and they requested that we contact the manager who was out of town. I politely declined the proffered gift certificate and explained that the child needed to contact the manager and request a refund on my credit card. Unlike many other reviewers, the refund was given that same day. I am embarrassed that I booked this trip without reading the reviews which, although favorable 2-4 years ago, indicate a serious deterioration in the boats, their maintenance and their operation. There are so many ways that this experience could have been disastrous and I am extremely grateful to the 3 boat owners (Mickey, especially) who went to great lengths to help us out. If you are still reading this, please don’t use this company

AVOID!!!! I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at London Boat Rentals. My family and I rented a boat, and what was supposed to be a fun outing turned into a frightening and unsafe situation. We were given an older Duffy boat that had serious steering issues— it was incredibly difficult to control. The boat made sharp, erratic turns, and we had no choice but to immediately turn back and head to the dock. This was especially concerning since we had elderly grandparents and a baby on board. Navigating busy waters became terrifying, and we feared for our safety and the safety of our passengers. We were fortunate that other boats were able to steer around us, but the whole experience was distressing and unacceptable. When we returned the boat, one of the employees, Rylee, casually mentioned, "Yeah, some of the boats are finicky and have been having that issue lately." This response was not only unprofessional, but it also showed a lack of concern for the safety of customers. It’s alarming that such a dangerous boat was still being rented out without proper maintenance or warnings.
Despite reporting the issue to the owner, Matt Ayer, we have not received any resolution, including a full refund for the dangerous and distressing experience. We are now escalating the matter to the California Department of Human Affairs, as we believe this situation posed a serious risk of injury to many persons involved.
I strongly urge anyone considering renting from London Boat Rentals to be avoid at all costs and rent elsewhere like Anchors Away! The lack of concern for safety, combined with poor customer service, makes it hard to trust that they take these issues seriously. I won’t be returning, and I advise others to think twice before renting here.

Great way to spend a few hours! Super friendly service! Highly recommend for an afternoon outing. We did two hours and that was the perfect amount of time to cover all of the area on the map.We brought food with us and ate on the boat. It was great!

Had a reservation for 6:30 and they were completely unprepared. Didn’t have a boat ready until 8:20, which would’ve given us less time than we paid for. Additionally, the owner Amy had a bunch of 16 year olds take the heat from disgruntled customers (not just us) while she adamantly said “no refunds”.

Even though we paid for the service and didn’t receive it, the only thing we were offered was store credit. Absolutely unacceptable.

Store credit? There’s no chance we’re coming back and we’re considering this fraud
